I am a freelance designer and specialise in making, modifying and adapting custom gear for EDC, Urban Survival and Bushcraft with consideration for limited SAWC (Space/Size And Weight Constraints).

SERE Cord Hybrid Kevlar® 1505
It’s taken over a year of research and design to develop this cord for SERE (Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape).
The standard 550 cord has been a popular choice for many due to the versatility and strength of the inner nylon strands and outer cord sheath. Hybrid Kevlar® and Hybrid Spectra® cord is also very popular due to the strength to weight ratio; however these Hybrid Cords normally contain a single or double inner braided cord making it less versatile than the multiple strands of nylon found in 550 Paracord. This new product provides the best of both cords making it the perfect choice for SERE.

Standard 550 Paracord: 7 inner strands; each strand has a test tensile strength of 35lb (7 x 35 = 245lb). The outer sheath has a test tensile strength of 305lb. Total tensile strength = 550lb
SERE Cord Hybrid Kevlar® 1505: 6 inner strands; each strand has an untested tensile strength of 200lb (6 x 200 = 1200lb). The outer sheath has an untested tensile strength of 305lb. Total untested tensile strength = 1505lb
Each inner Kevlar® strand is a braid of 3 strands. If required they can be easily separated by twisting clockwise.
Once separated you have 18 strands each with a tensile strength of 66.6lb!
To mark the SERE Cord out from the other cords I will initially produce the SERE Cord in three distinctive outer sheath colours:
The SERE Cord Hybrid Kevlar® 1505 will be used for my survival bracelets and will also come as a Micro-Rope with black metal tips on the end (12-24ft lengths) exclusively via OscarDelta SPD and approved retailers.
