Welcome to my Blog…
If it ain't broken I'll probably try and fix it...
I design and custom build gear for EDC (Every Day Carry), Bushcraft, Urban Survival, Escape & Evasion with consideration for limited SAWC (Space/Size And Weight Constraints).
Due to the covert nature of my restricted products I cannot show the full range as doing so may compromise the operator who uses them.

Hybrid Spectra® (HBS) Bracelet 855
First batch just shipped out to HettyKat…
Checking through the archives the last HBS 855 was custom made about 6 months ago; this cord is getting hard to source so it’s going to be a while before anymore are made…
Over the next few weeks I will be building a full production workshop for custom Kydex® sheaths and will upload some prototypes as soon as they are ready.
SERE Black Ops “V” Cutter - DIY install for a quick draw…
This is the method that I use, it takes slighter longer than simply pushing it into the sleeve and requires a tool that you can fashion from a metal hanger. With this install you can quickly pull out the V Cutter from the elastic sleeve without the risk of cutting the bracelet cord.
If you have another way please feel free to share.
No idea what the music is ツ
Hybrid Spectra® (HBS) Bracelet 855
This is a sneak preview of the HBS 855 Bracelet that I am reintroducing. It has an inner core of Spectra® (550lb test tensile strength) with an outer sheath of 550 paracord and features the End User Adjustment System for a custom fit.
Shown here with the SERE Black Ops “V” Cutter installed for quick draw.
The HBS 855 will be rolled out in various colours and will include a colour matched Acetal 25kg certified load rated Side Release Buckles (SRB) that is now available in Tan, Olive Drab and Black. You can also request something different as shown in the photo with a contrasting buckle.
BCB Button Compass and SOLAS retro reflective dot standard.
SERE Black “V” Cutter with Black Technora® Tether optional.
Spectra® is a Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibre used in armour, in particular, personal armour and on occasion as vehicle armour, cut-resistant gloves. It has extremely low moisture absorption, has a very low coefficient of friction, is self-lubricating, and is highly resistant to abrasion (in some forms, 15 times more resistant to abrasion than carbon steel).
Spectra® is gel spun, also known as dry-wet spinning, is used to obtain high strength or other special properties in the fibres. The polymer is in a “gel” state, only partially liquid, which keeps the polymer chains somewhat bound together. These bonds produce strong inter-chain forces in the fibre, which increase its tensile strength. The polymer chains within the fibres also have a large degree of orientation, which increases strength. The fibres are first air dried, then cooled further in a liquid bath. Some high strength polyethylene and aramid fibres are produced via this process.

Wikipedia is blacking out for 24 hours and I wondered if it was still possible to access the information.
It appears there is one way to access information.

“Here’s a tip for the do-it-yourself crowd: Go to your computer’s Start menu, and either go to “run” or just search for cmd. Open it up, and type in ping [website address], like so:

Once you have the IP for a website, all you really need to do is enter it like you would a normal URL and hit enter/press go. Typing in 208.85.240.231 should bring you to the front page of AO3, for example, just as typing 174.121.194.34/dashboard should bring you straight to your Tumblr dashboard. Since we’re obviously bracing for the worst case scenario which would involve you not being able to access Tumblr regularly, you should, like, save this list, I guess”

FQFOB HBK 745 (UV Coated Hybrid Kevlar®)
It looks very similar to the standard FQFOB but has been constructed using UV coated Hybrid Kevlar® Cord with a 550 paracord outer.
As with any FQFOB the operator can easily unravel the cord in less than 5 seconds!
- For speed use a knife to cut away the retainer knot.
- If you have the time you can untie the knot.
- With retainer knot removed now pull out the two pieces of end cord.
- Then pull hard on the end loop whilst holding bracelet tight.
- Keep pulling until all cord is free.
- Run the cord through you hands to straighten it out.
- You now have approx. 4 x 6ft of UV coated Kevlar® Cord + 1 x 6ft of 550 outer cord sheath; a total of 30ft in a FOB!
Cutting the knot off is the quickest method.
There is also another method; using an object such as a pen, key etc push where the two pieces of cord protrude from the retainer knot.
This will cause the cord to go inwards and the knot will start to undo.
- Weight 9g (standard 550 FQFOB 12g).
- Length 3½” (88.9mm excl end loops)
- Potential tensile strength 745lb “Stronger-Than-Steel”
- Attach to keys, MOLLE, pocket tools etc.
With keys attached this product can be utilised as an improvised self-defence tool
*The inner strands and outer 550 sheath can be used as a field expedient friction saw for cutting through rope, gaffa tape, zip-ties etc

DIY Cell Phone Back-Up / Contact Recovery Kit
Like many I spend a considerable amount of time away from home or the office and require a good communication network. In the event that your cell phone is lost, damaged, stolen or simply runs out of power it can be more than an inconvenience.
I stopped trying to memorise the contact numbers for my family, friends a long time ago, some people don’t even know their own cell phone number ツ
Contact List: I have printed a list of the important contact numbers and covered it some clear self adhesive tape (front and back) to give it some protection. Use the numbers on the list to make a call from public phones etc. You could add on the top of the list the name ICE (In Case of Emergency) this would be the number of your next of kin.
SIM: I also have also included a back-up SIM card and will add further pre-paid SIM cards from various other networks to ensure a good network coverage. These items are carried in a cut down version of the Go-Tube and attached with my keys.
Power: I have found the battery life of my smart-phone insufficient for long stays away from a recharger. I have considered spare batteries, solar chargers etc but for now I carry a back-up cell phone that is unlocked and will work on all the networks. It is a Nokia 1100 (Hackers Phone); I have owned it since 2004 so I know it’s reliable; it even has a LED light. If required this phone can be charged using a single AA battery.
Other considerations…
Virus/Malware: My Nokia 1110 has no GPS and no internet. Smart-phones including the iPhone and Google Android devices are under increasing threat from computer virus and mobile malware; my trusty old Nokia 1110 should work regardless of these attacks*.
Pocket Spies: Smartphone actionable intelligence…
This is my method; it’s simple, low cost and works well for me.
If you have any other ideas I would be most interested.
“Ever notice how people texting at night have that eerie blue glow?
Or wake up ready to write down the Next Great Idea, and get blinded by your computer screen?
During the day, computer screens look good—they’re designed to look like the sun. But, at 9PM, 10PM, or 3AM, you probably shouldn’t be looking at the sun.
F.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer’s display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.
It’s even possible that you’re staying up too late because of your computer. You could use f.lux because it makes you sleep better, or you could just use it just because it makes your computer look better” - F.lux

I have just downloaded a version for Windows XP and will be trying this over the next few days….
31 DEC 2011 17:37 hrs GMT it’s now dark outside and the light emitting from my screen has reduced slightly; it’s an off white colour; the cursor has remained white so you can see the difference in contrast/brightness. I agree with F.lux this setup reduces eye fatigue. - nice ツ
